DRIVING LESSONS IN
BURGESS HILL, HAYWARDS HEATH
& MID SUSSEX

Sorry, but I am not able to take
on any new learners at this time

I believe in providing quality instruction that will make you a safe driver for life. Yes, the short-term goal is to pass the practical driving test which shows that you have achieved a level of competence, but that is just the first step to becoming a good driver.

Learning to drive is a personal journey that cannot be effectively tackled using a “one size fits all” approach. I treat everyone as an individual, tailoring the training to your specific needs. Research shows that the average learner driver will need approximately 45 hours of instruction with an Approved Driving Instructor, supported by 22 hours of tuition with a suitably qualified friend or family member. Some will take less time, others more, but we will discuss your progress regularly, so you are clear about how you are doing.

To begin with, you will have an initial assessment where we can meet and you can start driving the car in a safe, controlled environment. You can then decide if you would like to continue working with me and book further sessions.

If you haven’t yet passed the DVSA Theory Test, I will provide you (licence availability permitting) with access to Theory Test Pro, an online training resource which allows you to study and practice multiple choice questions as well as hazard perception video clips.

If you want to purchase individual lessons, my "pay as you go" rates are:

£45 per hour, £65 for one and a half hours or £85 for 2 hours.

I also offer a further reduced rate for booking a block of 6 hours. This is currently £240 (equivalent to £40 per hour).

Driving lessons will generally last either one and a half or two hours. At the end of each session, I simply deduct the time that we used from the time that you have in credit and you can top up as required.

Once you have passed your test, any purchased training hours that have not been used will be refunded.

I use the DVSA “Ready to Pass” assessment guide to keep track of the areas we have covered and how you performed. I generally provide written feedback after each session and highlight any key developmental areas that you can practice before our next session if you have access to your own car.

DVLA Ready to Pass Checklist

Although I am fully aware of local DVSA driving test routes, lessons don’t consist of just driving around those. I have a good working knowledge of the Sussex road network and believe in using all types of roads so you get to encounter and deal with a wide variety of hazards and situations to build your road knowledge and experience.
